A Platform Built on Purpose
Clarify-ed was developed in response to decades of research into what really works in classrooms. Our design is driven by evidence-based practices that empower students and support teachers in making lessons crystal clear. By offering easy-to-use tools that operationalise high-impact strategies, Clarify-ed diminishes the challenge of implementation and helps teachers put the research theory into action in every lesson. Clarify-ed is built on the evidence-backed belief that when students are given clarity, voice, and responsibility in their learning, they engage more deeply and behave more purposefully.
Empowering Student Engagement
Clarify-ed emphasises the importance of positioning students as active partners in their learning journey. In Reimagining Student Engagement (Corwin, 2002), Amy Berry acknowledges that passive, disengaged learners often contribute to low-level disruption, missed learning opportunities, and increased teacher stress - while engaged, proactive learners bring energy, focus, and ownership that elevate the entire classroom environment. Berry advocates for strategies that transform students from passive recipients to active participants, fostering deeper investment and ownership of their learning processes. Clarify-ed brings this vision to life by providing every student with clear learning intentions, visible success criteria, timely feedback, and actionable next steps - transforming learners into confident, self-directed participants in their own success.
Insights from Classroom Observations
For students to be truly engaged and successful in their learning, they must understand more than just what they’re doing - they need to know what they are learning, why it matters, and how to be successful. Yet, in 17,000 Classroom Visits Can’t Be Wrong (ASCD, 2015), Antonetti and Garver found the following: While many students could describe what they were DOING, only a third could articulate what they were LEARNING, and few knew WHY, or what SUCCESS looked like.
Antonetti and Garver highlight the significance of shifting the classroom focus from teaching to learning. Their extensive observations reveal that when students are engaged in meaningful, rigorous cognitive tasks, learning outcomes improve significantly. Clarify-ed supports this shift by offering tools that promote active learning, encouraging students to engage in higher-order thinking and apply their knowledge in diverse contexts.
Making Learning Visible
John Hattie's Visible Learning research underscores the impact of making learning processes transparent. By setting explicit goals and providing clear feedback, students can better understand their progress and areas for improvement. Hattie’s concept of “students as their own teachers” is supported by Clarify-ed’s platform - enabling students to see their goals, track their progress in real time, and act on immediate feedback - all support the development of self-regulated, motivated learners. By offering tools that bring high-impact strategies to life, Clarify-ed helps teachers close the gap between intention and impact, and gives students the clarity and confidence they need to thrive.

Victorian Teaching & Learning Model 2.0 - Strategies in the explicit teaching element
・Focus the learning
・Explicit explanation and modeling
・Scaffold practice
・Monitor progress
Clarify-ed directly supports explicit teaching by helping teachers clearly focus the learning through shared goals and success criteria. It guides explicit explanation by making learning intentions visible and easy to understand, supports scaffolded practice through structured feedback and next steps, and allows teachers and students to monitor progress in real time.
By providing tools that help teachers adjust support during lessons, Clarify-ed enables the use of both planned and responsive scaffolds - ensuring all students stay engaged, experience success, and gradually move towards independent learning. This means students always know what they’re learning, why it matters, and how they’re going - keeping teaching focused, and learning on track.
From Theory to Practice - The Challenge of Implementation Solved!
While decades of research have suggested what works best in education, the real challenge has always been implementation. Translating high-impact strategies like goal-setting, formative feedback, and student ownership into everyday classroom practice can be complex and time-consuming. Clarify-ed bridges that gap by turning proven theory into simple, practical tools that help teachers embed effective strategies seamlessly into their routines - making clarity, engagement, and progress part of the daily learning experience. As a result, classrooms become calmer, more focused, and easier to manage. The Clarify-ed effect ✨
